Although the Thirty Years War concluded in a brutal, traumatizing event, it still created more turmoil with other nations. It created more tension between different countries and became economically destructive. Towards the end of the Thirty Years War, many Europeans were invested and heavily engaged in slavery. They depended on military employment of slaves because it expanded the military population, which in return increased the chances of success of the war. Commanded by the Spanish officers, they incorporated volunteers and forced African Americans to join the war and be on the front lines. They were able to accomplish this method by providing false hope of a way to buy out their freedom and no longer becoming enslaved. Europeans needed additional force in order to gain political and economic power, therefore enlisted enslaved people as a military tactic. African Americans were used on the battlefield, however the Spaniards worried the the increasingly number of African Americans can create a conflict within the military. By the 17th century, African Americans were enlisted in the military and were armed with guns. Slaveholders trusted African American with a powerful tool that can kill an individual and group. Although the Europeans feared that African Americans can overpower the Spaniards, they were desperate to increase their military power, thus leading to the result of enlist enslaved people to help with the war. This method of using enslaved people popularized the expansion of the slave trade; which in return influenced many countries to go to slave auctions and purchase African Americans. Some African Americans were free and some were enslaved; however, both were included to fight during the war. In relation to the Thirty Years War, The Atlantic Slave Trade occurred for three hundred years (1600-1900). Since the Thirty Years War began in 1618 and ended around 1648, there was a chance that African Americans were enlisted in the military. Towards the end of the Thirty Years War, the global slave trade influenced countries to be participate in the purchasing of enslaved people. The war was due to nation building, therefore resulted to slave labor as a tactic to add additional soldiers to the military. Even though the Europeans did not deem enslaved people worthy because of their enslaved status, enslaved people were still participators in the war. The involvement of enslaved African Americans during the war had affected a change in the way they were perceived. Since enslaved people were considered inferior to the whites, they were terribly mistreated and were paid little to nothing. However, the enlistment of African Americans portrayed their courage to risk their life in order to be heard. This represented a change in history because they were able to be involved in the war and make a difference for themselves. In conclusion, the involvement of enslaved people impacted the war in many ways. With the addition of enslaved people, military powers became stronger and the usage of gun powder increased as well. To continue, this method gave more power to the militaries because not only did they have more power in numbers, but with the use of gun powder, they were able to accomplish a lot more in the war due to having this product for their weapons. Thus, with the addition of enslaved people becoming soldiers and joining the war with the access to gun powder, it led to an advantage for the military powers on the battlefield due to having more people and better weapons. Therefore demonstrating the influence both enslaved people and gun powder had on the war.
